Jamie Oliver will now go into a long spiel about how the Airline industry is killing our wildlife …….

He will then bring an airline engine into a TV studio and while running it throw chickens inside to demonstrate what happens.

At Northolt air field which is only about 10 miles away from heathrow they have a man who scares the birds away before the planes land, and amonst his tools of the trade he has birds of prey for the more stubbern birds who fly around the airfield, im sure this would be the same for all airports as a matter of health and saftey. the it could have been Geese statement was more of a throw away statement, if the engines stalled at 400 feet this is probably higher than the geese fly

You have a link, they said the preliminary results won’t be out for 48 hrs, and that the most likely cause was contaminated fuel. And they may not have the full results for months.

Will Canadian Geese now be placed on the Axis of Evil?

Will they now be hunted to extinction now the details of their diabolical plot have been revealved?

Some of the passengers talked of the engines roaring “as if we were taking off”. Is it possible the pilot managed to restart the engines? If he applied full power at the perimeter would this explain the final rapid plunge onto the grass?

Bird strikes at Heathrow have posed a Major problem for many years. It was their territory prior to it being developed into the worlds busiest airport.BAA have worked hard to eliminate the problem. It is early days to predict the cause engine failure to both engines. But would have thought that if birds were responsible it would have been clear to see before now.The 777 as is the Airbus is totally dependent on its electronics and software failures happen frequently even down to shutting down Toilet facilities on the Airbus. Both Boeing and Engine makers Rolls Royce have excellent records and are the best in the business. Its wait and see time.

Canada sure takes a beating. Americans are always announcing on the news that the cold air from Canada is causing their problems and now the geese. Where will it all end???

If it was geese then, oh well. Who is in whose natural environment? It should just be chocked up to an “it was bound to happen sooner or later” type of accident and let it go at that. Now what are we humans going to do? Kill every bird we see because they may hit planes?
